Nicolas is an award-winning American filmmaker, journalist, and media consultant. He was raised in Geneva, Switzerland, and moved to New York in 1998, where he became an American citizen. His work has appeared on dozens of American and foreign networks, including PBS, Al Jazeera, the Hallmark Channel, CNN International, NHK, Spiegel, and Deutsche Welle, and in many notable venues such as the Film Society of Lincoln Center, IDFA Amsterdam, Hot Docs, the Sheffield Documentary Festival, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Rotterdam International Film Festival, the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Stanford Film Society, and Camerimage in Poland.
Perhaps best known for his uncanny ability to get elusive characters to open up, Rossier's classic semi-biographical theatrical documentaries have received critical accolades in the US and abroad. His work has been praised by critics in The New York Times, Variety, The Los Angeles Times, and The Forward, and by legendary filmmakers such as Michael Moore, Albert Maysles, and Mark Achbar. Before moving to New York, Rossier pursued a career in the finance in Europe. He studied at the Graduate Institute of International & Development Studies in Geneva, where he obtained an MA in International Relations. He later studied film production and theater at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute & the School of Visual Arts.
